Some peculiarities of pellet production.
In modern world one of the most important issues is the preservation of natural conditions on the Earth. These natural conditions will ensure a safe and comfortable existence for all humanity. And I mean not only this current generation but also the next one as well as generations of the instant future. However, the increasing demands for comfort have led to the deterioration of environmental conditions on the Earth. One example of this is the so-called “greenhouse effect”. Its danger lies in the impending rise of the temperature on the whole planet, which means that the world is going to change entirely very soon. It is believed that reducing this “greenhouse effect” will be a real equivalent to the replacement of traditional, non – renewable sources of energy such as oil, gas and others with modern ones, high – tech kinds of fuel.

This type of fuel can be wood pellets for example. These cylinder tiny things are made of waste materials left by timber industry. If they meet certain requirements they are often used as a clean and highly efficient fuel. There’s another kind of fuel of a similar origin. I mean fuel briquettes. In fact the status of an environmentally friendly fuel is gained by wood pellets due to some peculiarities of their production. For the production of this stuff grinded waste materials are used. This substance should be grinded until it’s going to become a powder. Both wood chips and sawdust can be used for this production.

The prepared raw material goes into the mold, which is sealed at the maximum filling volume. Then this stuff is delivered into the oven where the temperature is between 100 – 110 C. At this temperature in this mold without the access of air, the combustion of wood chips can’t start. In such a way a special condition for pellet shaping is achieved. Their diameter ranges from 4 up to 12 mm. This is related to the percentage of different components of raw materials. The length is from 1 cm to 4 cm. This also depends on the technological features of the production line. The color of pellets varies from light yellow to dark brown. Lighter pellets are considered to be more efficient. The dark color is given by cortex. Sometimes wood pellets have a grayish hue color. This does not mean lower quality. The reason for this hue is a slight difference in temperature in the furnace during forming pellets. From my point of view it doesn’t matter what color your wood pellets are. The main thing is that they must provide you with warmth when you are at home. I don’t care about the color. I just want to be heated up properly and nothing else.
