Getting Six Pack Abs Fast
By FTS_author on Jun 17, 2010 in Truth About Six Pack Abs
If you want to get six pack abs, then you need to do two simple things. First, you need build muscle, second you need to lose fat. Many people who want to get six pack abs just focus on building their abdominal muscles. However, no matter how many sit-ups and crunches you do, you won’t get a six pack unless you lose fat around you abs. This is because no matter how strong your abs are, if a layer of fat is covering them, they won’t be seen. It sounds simple, in theory, just build muscle and lose fat. Putting it into action is more difficult, but not impossible.
Building muscle is arguably the easier of the two. Some simple exercises you can to to get a six pack are squats, crunches, sit ups, bicycle crunches, leg lifts and many, many more. Squats are one of the easiest exercises and strengthen your hamstrings and quadriceps as well as your lower back muscles. Strengthening these muscles will help you improve your posture and spine strength, which will in turn help you to strengthen your abs. When doing squats to get a six pack, just be careful that you do not bend from your back.
Although sit ups and crunches are similar, crunches are more effective, and place less stress on the back. An important point to remember when doing crunches or sit ups is not to put your hands behind your head, because the pulling of the head increases stress on the neck and head. Instead outstretch your hands in front of you, or place your hands lightly behind your ears but do not pull.
Another great exercise which you do at home to get a six pack is leg raises. First, lie on the floor, and place your hands palm down under your bottom. Then raise your feet just off the ground for 3 seconds, then up about another foot for 3 seconds, then up again for another 3 seconds. Then lower your feet back to just off the ground, and repeat about 10 times. I highly recommend that you create and record a basic abdominal workout plan, containing the exercises, the number of reps (repetitions) and the number of sets. This way, you can see your progress as you get a six pack.
Now for the second part of getting a six pack, losing the fat covering your abs. There are so many ways to lose fat that I can’t possibly list them all here. A quick search on Google will reveal many ways, but I will list a few here. So the first and most obvious way to lose fat is eating healthier. Instead of eating a bag of chips, choose an apple or a banana. What many people don’t know however, is that snacking is actually healthy (as long as you don’t snack on junk food). By eating more often and eating less during your main meals, your body’s metabolism increases causing you use more energy and burn more fat.
