Do you have extra pregnancy weight? There is a way to become a healthy mother. You can learn how to become a healthy and fit mother.
Having a baby is an experience like no other. But after enduring 9 months of watching yourself become a little bigger with every passing day, many women have a very normal urge to get back to their normal weight and regain their pre-pregnancy shape as soon a possible. This is very possible but don’t rush into things too quickly. Life after birth throws up a whole new set of obstacles within your life you must overcome. Now, if you are a new mother, there is a way to lose that baby fat and rediscover the old you. Trying to lose weight too fast can often have a negative affect on your body.
Women are constantly comparing themselves to magazines and models. Forget about all the celebrity moms with their personal trainers, private cooks, and dietitians. These are new moms that can accomplish their weight loss goals much faster than the average woman. So don’t base your weight loss progress against these women who obviously have an advantage over the rest of us.
Returning to the body you had before child can take up to 6 months after birth. Even if you aren’t breast feeding, don’t be in a rush to cut calories. Given the fact that your body must recover from the physical trauma of childbirth, you can be left completely exhausted. Your life has a whole new set of responsibilities now which is very tiring and stressful. Let’s not forget about “night feedings” and all of the other demands having a new infant requires. Now is the time to concentrate more on your newborn child rather than focusing on the added stress of losing weight. You must simply concentrate on eating enough healthy food enriched with the proper calories and nutrients to give yourself enough energy to cope.
You can also consider exercise. This can be done rather soon after returning from the hospital. However you must start with light gentle exercises. Vigorous exercises can damage your health if done too quickly after childbirth. It is best to avoid any sustained exercise until after your first post-pregnancy check up. It is also best to get advise from your doctor and they will explain the benefits of exercise.
When returning to your pre-pregnancy weight you must consider a few things. This largely depends on how much weight you gained during your pregnancy. Most women gain anywhere between 25-35 pounds. The average weight lost during birth is 12-14 pounds, leaving 12-21 pounds to be lost afterward. If you allow 3 months for your body to recover and for you to become accustomed to your new lifestyle, you should be able to achieve your weight loss goals within 6-8 months. If you gained anymore than 35 pounds during pregnancy, allow an extra month for every 6 pounds gained. Just remember that every woman is different, however, this is just pregnancy weight loss forum. Your main goal is to become a happy, healthy mom.
